I am not just a pretty face you know! I think about things that many would take as Science Fiction. Take for example Time, Space and Eternity Time exist to put a face on eternity (This blog entry is NOT for the faint hearted- you have been warned) Space exist but without time Space has no existence of its own. Follow that?
For example when a husband and wife decide to go out for an evening the man will say I’ll meet you in the car and he goes to the car to wait on his wife who is still in the house she replies “I’ll be right out.” And half an hour latter he is fuming and she is not in the car with him. To the man time is passing slowly as he has waited for half an hour and no wife. While inside the house the wife has in her mind, the next thing on her list of things to do is go out to the car. but for her time is not passing at all because her perception of time is not the same as her husbands. (quite convoluted but the best I can do for the moment).
We, Gentle readers, are captives in a fashion by our sense of time: hours, minutes, seconds, that are after all just things which mark the spaces between a material world.
But reality is not that simple. We live in eternity and for some of us this eternity (that we call the spiritual realm) is more real that the material world. Remember The E=mc2 theory Well, as long as you deal with things or are in a materialistic culture you will be time conscious. But those who have no materials to speak of do not think of themselves as living in time at all: they actually live in eternity!
To be continued…
Now that didn’t take to long did it? I went out and walked both dogs, got Marti a cup of tea, myself a fresh cup of coffee and time past or did it? For you reading this entry no time past unless you got up walked away and then came back, sat down and began reading again.
The more deeply embedded we become in the world of things the profoundly conscious we tend to become of time. What then did Einstein really mean when he said that time is relative? Did he only mean that we experience time at different rates but this variability is only in the consciousness of the observer? The answer is, NO! This is not what he meant. He meant that time does NOT have a fixed flow rate, that its flow rate really IS variable, that is variability is not dependent on the observer! It is unfortunate that Western man has often lagged behind people in other cultures in their understanding of the “real” nature of time.
Consider if you will these verses from Psalm 103:15,16 “As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.” And then compare those with the Book of Revelation Chapter 10 verse 6 “And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:” The Greek for you who are interested in checking me out is crovnoß Chronos . There is a real bond between things and time, because things occupy space, and space and time are inextricably bound together. People who are absorbed in the materiel world are absorbed in a temporal world: those who hold things lightly hold time lightly. Those who are unwilling to share their things find it difficult to share their time. Time is money which is another way of saying time is things! One day perhaps you may wake up to find that you have stepped out of time into eternity and discover that you have been in eternity all along and that Time was the dream!
“I am ALPHA and OMEGA, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” The Apocalypse 1:8
